There’s always a healthy debate over whether certain presidents or presidential candidates are the sorts of guys you’d want to have a beer with. Well, today, on the very day that many people are drinking lots of beer, crowds at The Dubliner near Union Station had that very chance as President Barack Obama stopped in for a pint of Guinness.
One could say that the visit was pure politics—it is an election year, after all—but Obama has little to worry about when it comes to the District’s three electoral votes. (There was no jurisdiction that went more heavily for him in 2008 than D.C.) Let’s just say that the guy probably wanted to get out of the house on a beautiful day and knock back a beer with some close friends and lots of very excited strangers.
Some of the tweets of the presidential St. Patrick’s Day celebration:
POTUS sipped a Guinness and posed for pictures with patrons at the Dubliner in DC. Excited crowd began chants of “four more years”.

Crowd now chanting “Obama, Obama” with emphasis on the “O”. Seemingly cheering on each sip of beer he takes. I love St. Patrick’s Day.

Danny Coleman, owner of the Dubliner, confirms that President Obama did finish his Guinness. Coleman was given 5 min notice of POTUS visit.

This was the true moment of Obama’s Dubliner visit: “One woman loudly urged the president to “sign my face.” He declined.” cc: @OKnox
