A 35-year-old man who was out celebrating at a party marking the closing of a Brookland night club early Sunday morning was killed after being stabbed multiple times.
The victim, who has not been identified, was attacked while at the “Grand Finale Fete” of the Library Bar & Grill in the 3500 block of 12th Street NE, police said. Police said the attack happened about 2:30 a.m. WJLA reported that the victim, who was suffering from multiple stab wounds when police arrived, was taken to a nearby hospital where he died of his injuries.
The slaying is the 16th homicide this year in the District, according to records kept by Homicide Watch D.C. A police statement obtained by the website’s editor, Laura Amico, reports that the victim was attacked while still inside Library Bar & Grill.
The incident was the second homicide in Northeast D.C. last week. On Friday evening, 21-year-old Shawn Junior Ray was shot and killed in the 4200 block of Edson Place NE. A second shooting victim in that incident was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
