With the D.C. primary set for tomorrow, at least some of you won’t have to run to your local polling place before or after work to vote for your favorite candidates.

According to figures released by the D.C. Board of Elections and Ethics, just over 6,000 people cast ballots during two weeks of early voting that wrapped up on Saturday.

Turnout was highest at the Chevy Chase Community Center, where 1,617 people voted early. Just over 1,400 cast early ballots at Judiciary Square—which opened a week early and served as the Ward 2 early voting site—while the Turkey Thicket Recreation Center in Ward 5 attracted just under 1,000 voters. Turnout was lowest at the King Greenleaf Recreation Center in Ward 6 (272 votes) and Columbia Heights Community Center in Ward 1 (338 votes).

Given the relatively low turnout for early voting and the expected sparse participation in tomorrow’s balloting, WAMU raises an interesting question today—have all the scandals turned residents off of D.C. politics altogether?

In something of a first, there was a shooting outside the Takoma Community Center Ward 4 voting site on Saturday evening. One man was injured, and NBC4 is reporting that two have been arrested in connection to the shooting. The best part? The man injured was part of a three-man stickup crew, and he was shot by mistake by one of his own accomplices.
