>> Jackie Battenfield’s Field Notes meticulously record the fleeting and colorful layers of nature in delicate detail and rich hues, with an air of Asian-influenced abstraction. Her collection of works on Mylar mounted on Dura Lar panel opens at Addison/Ripley Fine Art with a reception on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m.

>> Starting Thursday, No Kings Collective took over the Georgetown
Waterfront for The Water St. Project, an eleven-day temporary art and performance installation open from 1 to 7 p.m. daily. Evening programming includes both free and ticketed events featuring art, music, design, mixers, and more. The project launches with a grand opening Friday from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

>> The National Gallery of Art films this weekend focus on Japanese Divas, starting with Life of Oharu at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Late Spring plays Saturday at 2:30 p.m. followed by Hanezu at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. All films are free in the Gallery’s East Building Auditorium and seating is on first-come, first-seated basis.

>> Club Corcoran celebrates the 57th Annual Corcoran Ball and the newly-opened NEXT at the Corcoran: Class of 2012 with a late-night party on Friday. Tickets are $95 ($150 for couples) and include summer membership to the Corcoran Gallery of Art. 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.

>> Closing out the Cherry Blossom season, The Pink Line Project’s Cherry Blast, now in its fourth year, brings its art and music dance party to The Lightbox on Saturday. A dance hall, art installations, wall murals, music, a pop-up cafe and more, all packed into 15,000 square feet of extrasensory overload you’re not going to want to miss. Tickets for this 21 and over event cost $10 and must be purchased in advanced. 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

>> Tropical Obstructions are idyllic landscapes of refreshing water and far-off locales, with a twist not found in travel brochures. Hamiltonian fellows Joshua Wade Smith and Jessica van Brakle approach these destinations in ways that challenge traditional perspective towards these tropical vacationland destinations. The exhibit opens with a reception at Hamiltonian Gallery from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
