Metro track maintenance, cloudy skies, swampy weather and rain drops didn’t seem to stop people from trickling into and staying at this year’s Curbside Cookoff at RFK Stadium. Forty trucks were at the mobile cafeteria from newcomer José Andrés’ Pepe to the grandfather of food trucks Fojol Brothers, surrounding almost the entire parking lot. Aptly called “Trucko de Mayo,” the event had many patrons evoke the spirit of Cinco of Mayo by making sombreros the accessory of the day.

If you haven’t stopped by yet, there’s always dinner time. Curbside runs until 9 p.m. Admission is free, but bring an empty stomach.
