You know how embarrassing it is when you leave your coffee cup or cell phone or notepad on the roof of the car and then drive off? Well, imagine what it must feel like if instead of a small belonging like one of those, it’s a sack full of money.

A convenience store employee in Anne Arundel County did exactly that early Thursday morning on Interstate 97 not far from the new Maryland Live! casino, NBC4 reported today. The driver, Maryland State Police said, placed a red bag marked “7-11” on the roof of his car about 5:45 a.m. Thursday and proceeded to drive off, causing the bag to tumble onto the roadway.

Police are not saying how much money was in the bag, other than that it was a “large amount of cash.” When the man reported the incident about 15 minutes later, the officer who responded was unable to find the sack.

Anyone with information about the bag or anyone who thinks they might have recovered some of the money is being asked to contact tips@dcist.com Maryland State Police in Glen Burnie at 410-761-5130.
