The Los Angeles band Grouplove is this year’s Foster The People. While the band does not have a “Pumped Up Kicks” to their name, they get loads of play on modern radio. Like Foster the People, Grouplove have that indie sound that separates them from most of the alt-rock stable. Having already played D.C. this year, opening up for Young The Giant, Grouplove return to another very sold-out 9:30 Club crowd, but this time as a headliner. Today’s song of the day is their best song and current single “Tongue Tied.” If you think you’ve heard this one before and you do not listen to DC101, it may be because the track was featured in an IPod Touch commercial, and those kids on Glee ruined it this past season. The bouncy and undeniably catchy track is the equivalent of Modest Mouse’s “Float On” with a dancey beat and female backing vocals. If their momentum keeps up you’ll be sure to see Grouplove headlining a Merriweather Post Pavilion show next year.

Grouplove play tonight with Reptar at the 9:30 Club. Tickets are sold out
