As the United States’ largest trading partner, Canada has given us many things over the years. But of all the bounties of our neighbors to the north, nothing compares to their exquisite culinary discovery of topping french fries with brown gravy and cheese curds.

Plus, Canada Day is coming up on Sunday. And what better way to celebrate the peaceful severing from British rule than by stuffing one’s face with a Québécois snack?

On Friday, at the Rhino Bar and Pumphouse in Georgetown, Wonky Promotions—formerly the Eat Wonky food truck—is throwing its Poutine Party. For $25, ticket purchasers can fill themselves with unlimited poutine and beer.

Yeah, it’s supposed to be like 100 degrees on Friday, so gravy-and-cheese-slathered fries probably aren’t the first dish that comes to mind when one thinks of that kind of weather. But its for Canada! One thing we noticed, though, is that of all the brews listed as being available at the party’s the open bar— Miller, Coors, Sam Adams, Sam Adams Yuengling and Chocolate City—none are Canadian. What gives?/Zut alors!

Still, it looks like there are a few tickets left, and Wonky Promotions owner Jeff Kelley writes in an email that there should be plenty of representatives from the Canadian Embassy in attendance.

Yay, Canada.
