If your friends and family happen to ask you how hot it was in D.C. today, don’t settle for “extremely.” Opt instead for, “So hot that we broke a century-old record.” Writes the Capital Weather Gang:
Mark Richards, weather observer at Reagan National Airport, says the temperature at 2:48 p.m. hit 104, blowing by the old June record of 102 set on June 9 in both 1874 and 2011.
Drink yourself a big cup of coffee, throw on some layers and come on outside for the impromptu record-breaking flash mob!
