The National Weather Service’s heat warning throughout the Washington area has prompted the D.C. Department of Parks and Recreation to close fields and cancel park-sponsored and permitted outdoor activities for the weekend.

The closings will also affect baseball tournaments, including little league tournaments being held at Banneker, Fort Lincoln, Guy Mason and Fort Reno.

Select city pools will also continue to extend their hours throughout the weekend.
