Not only is turning a food truck into a brick-and-mortar restaurant now a big thing—see here and here—but so is using Kickstarter to fund the transformation.

After Pleasant Pops successfully used a Kickstarter campaign to raise the $20,000 needed to complete its Adams Morgan store, El Floridano‘s Stephan Boillon is similarly asking fans of his food truck to support Mothership, the new restaurant and bakery he’s planning on opening along Georgia Avenue.

Boillon is looking for $30,000, and like Pleasant Pops before him, he’s willing to reward those who give—$100 will get you dinner for two and a branded barstool, while $1,000 will get you a custom five-course meal for 10 people (and their names will be branded into the chef’s table where they will dine).

With the money he raises, Boillon plans on creating a handcrafted bar and dining tables from reclaimed materials, building ADA compliant bathrooms and installing a 10-ton energy efficient HVAC system. As of this morning, 16 people have kicked in $1,306. The Kickstarter campaign runs through the end of August.
