The Big Pink may have taken a little bit of time off between releasing their 2009 break-out album A Brief History of Love and this year’s Future This, but the band honed their electro-pop sound into something even more massive than before. The band is returning to D.C. tonight at the Rock and Roll Hotel, and today’s song of the day, “Hit The Ground (Superman).”, is the lead single off its latest album. The track takes a sample from Laurie Anderson’s “O Superman (For Massenet),” a track that has come back into the cultural conscience after being featured in a HTC Touch commercial, with The Big Pink adding crushing drums and pop hooks.

The Big Pink play tonight with D.C.’s Black Hills at The Rock and Roll Hotel. Tickets are $15.
