The July 18 pro-Gray rally in front of the Wilson Building.

A group of supporters of Mayor Vince Gray have set up a website—onedc.usFacebook page and Change.org petition expressing their allegiance to the embattled executive. Reads a press release announcing the effort:

DC residents from all walks of life have united in a common cause to support our Mayor, Vincent Gray. We believe that regardless of the political position any individual holds, the same process should be afforded to all persons. We subscribe to the principle of innocent until proven guilty and believe in the Constitutional right to due process.

It is our belief that Mayor Vincent Gray has done a good job at improving the lives of all the residents of the District of Columbia. From being a strong voice for many communities, to reducing the unemployment rate through his One City One Hire program, to championing our statehood efforts, supporting small businesses, education, and senior citizens, Mayor Vincent Gray continues to improve the lives of every resident of this great city.

Even though the website isn’t attributed to a specific individual, it was registered by Franklin Garcia, the president and founder of the D.C. Latino Caucus and an active member of the D.C. Democratic State Committee. Garcia was among those who spoke at a recent rally for Gray outside the Wilson Building, where supporters asked that the federal investigation be allowed to runs its course before anyone jump to asking him to resign.

If there is a movement of residents hoping for Gray to stay, it’s a minority—a Post poll recently found that 54 percent of D.C. residents wanted Gray to resign. Three members of the D.C. Council have also asked that Gray, who is under investigation for illicit spending practices in his 2010 mayoral campaign, resign.
