It was bound to happen. As Chick-fil-A remains mired in a bucket of deep fried controversy over its opposition to same-sex marriage, at least one D.C. competitor is looking to take advantage of the situation and peel some customers away.

This morning, Bojangles’ Famous Chicken ‘n Biscuits—which opened a location in Union Station last year—tweeted, “Too much drama at Chik-fil-a? Our chicken is better anyway!” Bojangles is a North Carolina-based company, of course…so if you’re angry at North Carolina for approving a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage, maybe you should avoid Bojangles altogether.

And though it’s not a real KFC ad, Funny or Die proposed a fake ad starring John Goodman as Colonel Sanders in which the other fried chicken purveyor jumps on the side of same-sex customers and their right to marry. The video is below. (That said, the Human Rights Campaign doesn’t rate Yum! Brands, KFC’s corporate parent, too highly.)

To be on the safe side, Washingtonian has rounded up some of the local fried chicken options that are both tasty—and generally shy away from the culture wars.

As for Chick-fil-A, opponents are planning a “National Same-Sex Kiss Day at Chick-fil-A” tomorrow.
