As we reported earlier this week, at least three former employees of the now-shuttered Back Alley Waffles have filed complaints with the D.C. government over wages they say have gone unpaid since the Shaw waffle shop folded in late July.
Well, now owner Craig Nelsen is trying to get them their money the only way he really can—by selling off the former restaurant’s equipment. Nelsen is holding a public auction on Sunday, and he plans to sell off restaurant equipment, supplies and even personal items to cover the thousands of dollars his former employees say he owes them. Ironically, one former employee had originally offered to take some of it off of his hands in exchange for the money she was owed. (He never responded to the offer, and she later filed a complaint against him.)
The auction starts at 4 p.m. at 1209 10th Street NW.
