Convenient? Maybe. But possible a little too destructive for many commuters’ tastes. This morning a Ride On bus in Silver Spring swerved off of the street and into a house on Avenel Road, reports the Montgomery County Police:

Today, at approximately 10:49 a.m., 3rd District officers and Fire/Rescue personnel responded to the area of Stateside Drive and Avenel Road in Silver Spring for a report of a Ride On bus into a residence.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the Ride On bus was traveling eastbound on Stateside Drive and was attempting to make a right-hand turn on to Avenel Road. For reasons still under investigation, the Ride On bus left the roadway and traveled into the yard of 9407 Avenel Road. The Ride On bus then continued into the adjacent yard and struck an unoccupied taxi in the driveway of 9405 Avenel Road. The taxi was pushed from the driveway into the yard, and the Ride On bus continued on striking the front porch and the front door of the residence at 9405 Avenel Road.

The home was occupied by two residents at the time of the collision but no one was injured. Several of the passengers on the Ride On bus to include the male bus driver suffered from reported minor injuries. At this time, the collision investigation is ongoing in conjunction with Fire/Rescue and Ride On.

The last time we saw something of this sort was last November, when a taxicab crashed in the Chevy Chase Pavilion in Friendship Heights.
