A Smithsonian security guard shot and killed himself this afternoon in the Hirshhorn Museum, provoking a large police response just after 3:15 p.m. According to the Smithsonian, “the incident occurred in a non-public area and no one else was injured.” Needless to say, the Hirshhorn is currently closed as police investigate further.
