>> Colonel Brooks’ Tavern, a longtime neighborhood fixture in Brookland, is closing next month to make way for a new $50 million residential and retail development, the Post reports. The bar was a regular hangout for Brookland’s residents and nearby hospital workers, but was marred in 2003 when three employees were shot execution-style during a robbery.
