>> With the blessings of the likes of Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar has made himself the new voice of his hometown, Compton, California. The rapper has had a slew of mixtape hits and a highly anticipated album that’s soon to be released. Lamar’s early show at the Howard Theatre is sold out but a late edition has been added to accommodate demand with Ab-Soul and Jay Rock also on the bill. $36-$39. 11:59 p.m.

Monday:
>> He might be gone but Chuck Brown’s legacy and spirit are still making themselves felt in D.C. In what promises to be an on going series, “Wind Me Up, Chuck! Mondays” is celebrating its kickoff by inviting an in-the-flesh funk god to perform with the Chuck Brown Band. The legendary George Clinton will take to the Howard Theatre‘s stage with Brown’s band to perform some of his hits. $30-$35. 8 p.m.

>> DJ Jahsonic manages to routinely pack folks on to Marvin‘s 2nd floor on a school night for “The Main Ingredient” every Monday. Expect to hear a little hip-hop, soul, Afrobeat or whatever else is guaranteed to keep the good vibe going on the dance floor. Free. 9 p.m.
