If you’ve been waiting for months on end to march into a polling place and cast a ballot for four more years of President Barack Obama or for a new start with Mitt Romney (or either of the two third-party candidates on the D.C. ballot), you can finally to do so today.

Two weeks of early voting in D.C. kick off today, allowing residents to cast their ballots ahead of the November 6 contest. Starting today, voters can head down to the Old Council Chambers in Judiciary Square (441 Fourth Street NW) from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. to vote, while early voting will expand to seven other sites (one in each ward; the Judiciary Square polling place will serve as the Ward 2 site) on Saturday.

If you’re not in D.C. but still registered here, you’ve got until October 30 to request an absentee ballot. For people here, in-person registration ended last week, but day-of registration is available.

If you’re still undecided over who to vote for in local races, we’ll have a handy voter guide next week.
