You’re probably sick of the presidential political ads have flooded our local airwaves: we’ve all been bombarded by TV ads telling us that President Obama wants to destroy Social Security and Republican challenger Mitt Romney wants to slash taxes for the richest Americans.

But there’s soon going to be a new ad airing in the region soon, and it’s not for a Democrat or a Republican—it’s for Libertarian Party presidential hopeful Gary Johnson.

The former governor of New Mexico’s campaign raised close to $1 million to buy ads in various media markets; the ad airing locally features Johnson pledging not to involve the U.S. in any future wars, especially against Iran.

Johnson recently appeared at a D.C. event, where he told us that if elected president he’d side with getting D.C. voting representation (and even possible rescind the building height restrictions!).

While the chances of Johnson are slim-to-none, Johnson advisers say they think the Libertarian can beat Romney for second place in D.C. While we’re not so sure about that, should Johnson get 7,500 votes, he will win the local Libertarian Party majority party status.
