FRIDAY

THRILLER: There’s never not a good time to dance to “Thriller,” but there’s also no better time than during Halloween season. The Joy of Motion Dance Center (1333 H Street NE) will be hosting a workshop to learn the iconic choreography for the timeless Michael Jackson classic, followed by an outdoor performance of the full dance routine. The workshop runs from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., and the dance is at 10 p.m. $25 in advance, $30 day-of.

VARIETY: Celebrate Halloween a little early with the Tilted Torch Spook-o-rama at Red Palace (1212 H Street NE) this Friday, a variety show of burlesque, belly dancing, comedy, and more. 10:00 p.m. $10 in advance, $12 day of.

HALLOWEEN PARTIES: Celebrate Halloween with Brightest Young Things, which is putting on “The Temple of Doom and the Lost Crystal Skull Crusade” party at The Sphinx Club (1315 K St NW). They promise “a multi-level sensory overload costume party with stiff drinks and good times.” 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., tickets are $25. Alternatively, head to the W Hotel (515 15th Street NW) for an ’80s Halloween Bash. Costumes required, and the best costume stands the chance of winning a night at the hotel. 8 p.m. to 3 a.m., $40.

HALLOWEEN MOVIES: Head to the AFI Silver Spring (8633 Colesville Road) for a fantastic sampling of classic Halloween films: Nosferatu, a Symphony of Horror, Shaun of the Dead and Carrie.

SATURDAY

BIKE PARTY: Grab a costume and your bike and get ready to have a good time at tonight’s D.C. Bike Party. Meet at the Dupont Circle fountain at 8:30 p.m. The group will make a pit-stop at the Oak Hill Cemetery, heading down Pennsylvania Avenue to Chinatown before ending at Duffy’s Irish Pub. Free.

PUNK ROCK FLEA MARKET: Head over to St. Stephen’s Church (1525 Newton Street NW) for a Punk Rock Flea Market to benefit Positive Force D.C. Heavy Breathing, Pity Rally and other bands will be on hand to perform. 12-5 p.m. $3.

HOWL-O-WEEN: Grab your dog and head down to Lincoln Park for a Doggy Costume Party! Awards will be handed out for the most original costume, the funniest costume, the best look-alikes, and more. 2 p.m. Free.

ZOMBIES: The Halloween Zombie Fest at Half Street Fairgrounds today is a celebration of everyone’s favorite flesh-eating freaks: zombies. Come out for zombie movies, a zombie dance party, zombie games, and more. 6:00-11:00 p.m. $20.

SUNDAY

TRICK OR TREAT: Trick or treat amongst the animals at Boo at the Zoo this weekend. The three-day candy fest at the National Zoo is sold out on Saturday, but tickets are still available for Friday and Sunday. 5:30-8:30 p.m. $30.

MARINE CORPS MARATHON: If you’re running in the Marine Corps Marathon, Godspeed! If not, head out and cheer on those that are. The course map is here.
