HOLIDAY SHOPPING: The Junior League of Washington hosts its 54th annual fundraising event, Holiday Shops, at the historic Sphinx Club (1315 K Street NW) from November 15 through November 18, 2012. Every year, JLW ushers in the holiday season with its largest and oldest fundraiser, formerly known as A Capital Collection of Holiday Shops. All proceeds support more than 25 literacy programs in the greater Washington metropolitan area. The four-day shopping event hosts more than 40 unique specialty boutiques for women, men, and children from across the country.

FOOD & DRINK: Celebrate the end of the harvest, the bottling of a new vintage, or just because it’s the Third Thursday in November. Tonight from 5-10 p.m., Central Michel Richard (1001 Pennsylvania Avenue NW) pours the first grapes of 2012 as part of the Beaujolais Nouveau celebration.

MEET THE GYMNASTS: Members of the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team come to the Verizon Center today as part of the Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastics Champions at the Verizon Center. Tickets range from $25-75, or VIP packages can be purchased for $125 to $200. 7:30 p.m.

OBERST: Omaha’s beloved wunderkind, Conor Oberst, will perform his brand of tortured self-conscious folk rock under his own name, a less bombastic incarnation of his (seemingly) retired Bright Eyes moniker that brought him worldwide attention in the early aughts. Opening is Daniel Johnston, an underground legend whose naive ballads and iconoclastic artwork has made him one of indie rock’s most beloved outsiders. At the Warner Theatre. $35, 8:00 p.m.
