Just a quick heads up for those staying in tonight. You might be interested in directing your television antennae toward the local NBC affiliate at 9:30 p.m., when Vice President Joe Biden guest stars on Parks and Recreation.

Tonight’s episode features Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) finally meeting Biden, the only member of her celebrity sex list and perhaps the most comically self-aware vice president of modern times. (For all we know, Aaron Burr could have left them in stitches.)

Parks and Recreation shot Biden’s episode in July, but due to Federal Communication Commission rules dictating that major-party candidates for national office have equal access to publicly owned airwaves, the filming had to be carried out in utmost secrecy. The producers did not have a backup plan involving Republican vice-presidential candidate Paul Ryan.
