Nine youths accused in the robbery and death of a young man from Olney, Md. at the Woodley Park-Adams Morgan Metro station early Saturday morning are due in court today. Among the suspects is one who allegedly stabbed 18-year-old Olijawon Griffin to death, and is being charged with second-degree murder.
Griffin and a friend were walking through Adams Morgan early Saturday when they were accosted by a group that stole several personal items from them, including Griffin’s Helly Hansen jacket, NBC4 reported. Griffin and his friend proceeded to head toward the Metro Station at Connecticut Avenue and Woodley Road NW.
They encountered the group of assailants again on the platform, and a fight subsequently broke out, leading to Griffin being stabbed and killed, officials said. The fight began about 1:15 a.m. Griffin’s friend was also stabbed and was taken to a local hospital.
