Sigh—there’s more news on the screwed up things that people can do to animals today.

The Washington Humane Society is offering up a $2,000 reward for any information related to two dogs that were found dumped in a trash can over the weekend. Sadly, only one of the dogs survived:

On Sunday, November 25, 2012, a severely injured adult, female, dark brown-brindle dog and a deceased adult, female, tan-brindle dog were found in a trash can in the alley behind 3900 S Street SE / 3900 R Street SE.

And on the same day that a D.C. man was sentenced to 120 days in jail for killing a six-month-old puppy with a 90-pound concrete slab, another man pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges of cruelty to animals after having declawed his daughter’s two cats—at home. Both cats eventually died. The man, Eric Felipe Gaskin, will be sentenced in January, and faces up to 180 days in jail on each charge.
