Saddle Creek may be looking back (Hey, Desaparecidos are back!) but as a label releasing new music it is alive and well. Omaha, Neb.-based three piece Icky Blossoms is just the sort of band to breathe new life into the label. The band, which features Tilly and The Wall singer Derek Pressnall, released a self-titled album earlier this year produced by TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek that has been unfairly overlooked. Taking cues from the ’80s, Pressnall makes the sort of sexy electro-pop that Gossip Girl‘s music supervisors have wet dreams over. Icky Blossoms is opening up for The Faint, which is looking back at its break through album Danse Macabre tomorrow night at the 9:30 Club.
Today’s Song of the Day, Icky Blossms’ “Heat Lightning,” is a sexy nighttime number with a guitar riff that is sure to get stuck in your head.
Icky Blossoms play tomorrow with The Faint and Trust at the 9:30 Club. Tickets $30.
