It probably won’t add up to much, if anything at all, but D.C. and the surrounding area is experiencing its first snowfall of winter right now. Don’t expect it to stick, though, as temperatures are hovering in the high 30s and low 40s, but, hey, it’s snowing!

Snow has also been spotted in suburban Maryland and Northern Virginia. The Capital Weather Gang still expects the weather pattern moving over the Washington area today to leave little more than a tracing of slushy mixed precipitation, so don’t go all Bing Crosby just yet.

Either way, it’s a much calmer opening blast to winter than three years ago, when the season opened with Snowpocalpyse.
