DJANGO, CHAINED: E Street Cinema is holding midnight screenings of the 1966 Django tonight and tomorrow.
BOXING ELVIS: I mean, why not? The H Street Playhouse (1365 H Street NE) will host Elvis’ Birthday Boxing Club, which is exactly what you might think it is. (The show describes itself thusly: “Celebrate the King’s Birthday with Flim Flam Fisticuffs and Hot Ta-Tahs.”) There are four shows altogether: 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. on both nights. TALKING ABOUT TREES: D.C. has a lot of trees, but just how important is the urban forest we enjoy on a daily basis? Andrew Johnston, a geographer at the National Air and Space Museum Center for Earth and Planetary Studies, will delve into the topic in his lecture at the Albert Einstein Planetarium (Independence Avenue and Sixth Street SW), “Trees in the City: Urban Tree Cover Dynamics in the District of Columbia.” 5:15 to 6:45 p.m. Request your free tickets here.
MAKING IT BIG IN A BAND: Ian Svenonius has been in a number of popular D.C.-based bands, and now he’s written a book to tell you how you can be a rock star too. Svenonius will be at Politics and Prose (5015 Connecticut Avenue NW) this evening to talk about his recently released Supernatural Strategies for Making a Rock ‘n’ Roll Group. 6 p.m. Free.
DJ SHOWCASE: Some of the city’s finest DJs—Jubilee, Two McFlys (Soul Sway & Funkdamentalist), Raffi, and Benoit Benoit—will show off their chops at the U Street Music Hall (1115A U Street NW) tonight. 10 p.m. $10.

THREE KINGS DAY: Head to the GALA Hispanic Theatre (3333 14th Street NW) for the traditional Latin American Fiesta de los Reyes Magos/Three Kings Day Celebration. Bilingual performances take place at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., while the procession—including live animals!—will start at 1 p.m. from the corner of 14th Street and Park Road NW. Tickets for the performances are handed out on a first come, first served basis.
SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK TURNS 40: If you forgot how a bill becomes a law, go to the Kennedy Center to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Schoolhouse Rock! The series’ former musical director Bob Dorough and award-winning D.C. children’s band Rocknoceros will be on hand to perform some of the most memorable songs. 6 p.m. Free.
STORY-TIME AT THE 9:30 CLUB: The 9:30 Club (815 V Street NW) hosts any number of musical acts a year, but tonight it’ll welcome something different: storytelling. The folks at SpeakeasyDC are putting their eight best storytellers on stage for what should be a memorable night of tales both big and small. Doors at 6, show at 7:30 p.m. $20.
