>> Wolf Trap‘s International Guitar Night takes place on Thursday at the Barns. The 8 p.m. show will feature internationally recognized jazzer and Scotsman Martin Taylor, the percussive style of Madagascar’s Solorazaf, Brazilian Celso Machado and classical musician Brian Gore. $25.

>> Joe Keyes and The Late Bloomer Band draw inspiration from Gil Scott-Heron and Sun Ra, but also bring in more contemporary jazz and funk influences. The band will be at the Bossa Bistro & Lounge on Thursday. 9 p.m. $5.
>> OOO (pronounced ”tree-oh trio”), which includes bassist and CapitalBop editor, Luke Stewart, is one of the city’s best free jazz ensembles. The group will perform on Friday at Mt. Ranier’s Urban Eats. 8 p.m. $5 suggested donation.
>> Drummer Aaron Seeber and bassist Dan Pappalardo both came up in the area playing together in honors jazz ensembles and studying with Paul Carr. New Orleans native and pianist Shea Pierre will join them on Thursday for 8:30 and 10 p.m. sets at Twins Jazz. $10 + $10 food/drink minimum.
>> Jazz Night in Southwest celebrates its 14th anniversary on Friday with a gentleman who is one of the local scene’s most respected elders. The “Wailin’ Mailman,” Buck Hill, is 85-years old, and as a result doesn’t perform all that often, which is all the more reason you should check out his performance on Friday. 6 to 9 p.m. $5.
>> Bohemian Caverns will kick off its inaugural festivities by presenting some of the best musicians D.C. has to offer. The Jolley Brothers, bassist Kris Funn and trumpeter Deandre Shaifer will team up on Friday for 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. sets. $18 in advance/$23 at the door.
>> In 2009, bassist Andrea Veneziani arrived in New York from his native Italy, and has been turning heads ever since. Now starting a career as a bandleader, he will bring a trio to Twins Jazz on Friday and Saturday for 9 and 11 p.m. sets. $15 + $10 food/drink minimum.
>> Pianist Eric Lewis is among the most dynamic performers in jazz, and has carved himself a niche by taking rock anthems and putting them in a jazz setting. He will be at HR-57 on Friday and Saturday to play selections from his latest album. 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. $25.
>> Omrao Brown has turned the historic Bohemian Caverns into the District’s best jazz club during his tenure as owner. Part of it comes from sound business acumen, part of it comes from his own upbringing. Brown’s father, Leonard Brown, is an established saxophonist and jazz academic. The elder Brown will perform his annual tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr. at the club on Saturday night, leading his group, Joyful Noise. 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. sets. $20 in advance/$25 at the door.
>> Blue Monday Blues will host a concert on Inauguration Day featuring Clarence “Blues Man” Turner and his band. 6 to 9 p.m. $5.
>> Baltimore-based composer and bass clarinetist Todd Marcus leads a nine piece ensemble on Tuesday at the Millennium Stage. Started in 2003, The Todd Marcus Jazz Orchestra currently includes musicians from Baltimore, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. In 2005 the ensemble recorded the debut album, In Pursuit of the 9th Man. 6 p.m. Free.
>> Drummer Lenny Robinson continues his run of Tuesday nights as Artist-in-Residence at Bohemian Caverns. 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. sets. $10 in advance/$15 at the door.
>> The Music Center at Strathmore will host Angelique Kidjo, Dianne Reeves and Lizz Wright on Tuesday. In Sing the Truth, the three vocalists will pay tribute to recently departed giants of music, Miriam Makeba, Abbey Lincoln, and Odetta, while also giving homage to other standout women like Billie Holiday and Lauren Hill. Their accompanists are as accomplished as the headliners, and the band will include Geri Allen, Terri Lyne Carrington, James Genus, Romero Lubambo and percussionist Munyungo Jackson. 8 p.m. $38-$78.
>> The MARS 4-tet represents a supergroup of sorts, bringing together some of the best talents of the Annapolis area. Comprised of bassist Max Murray, saxophonist Jeff Antoniuk, drummer Frank Russo and guitarist Donato Soveiro, the band will be playing 8 and 10 p.m. sets on Tuesday at Blues Alley. $20 + $12.50 minimum/surcharge.
