BondsInterim Councilmember Anita Bonds (D-At Large) has had better weeks. This morning, she sent a teary email saying that she and her family had been robbed in Rome and were stranded. In the email, she asks for money to get back.
Wait a second…Bonds is participating in the D.C. Council’s monthly legislative session as we speak! What gives? Oh, right—someone hacked into her email account. Either that or this is a very clever way to get campaign contributions for her April 23 re-election bid. Whichever it is, if you received this email, it goes without saying that you shouldn’t send money. I mean, there are worse places to be stuck than Rome, right?
The full text of Bonds’ email is below:
Hello,
I’m writing this with tears in my eyes, My family and I came down here to Roma,Italy for a short vacation unfortunately we were mugged at the park of the hotel where we stayed, all cash, credit card and cell were stolen off us but luckily for us we still have our passports with us.
We’ve been to the embassy and the Police here but they’re not helping issues at all and our flight leaves in less than 3hrs from now but we’re having problems settling the hotel bills and the hotel manager won’t let us leave until we settle the bills.
Am freaked out at the moment and i need your urgent help.
Thanks
Anita Bonds
