The vernal equinox isn’t until March 20, but tomorrow is the official start of D.C.’s urban spring. How would we know? Because residential street sweeping begins again.

After a winter hiatus, the city’s street sweepers will start their regular rotations tomorrow, cleaning up either side of designated city streets on alternating days of the week. On those days—which are marked by signs—you’ll have to move your car to the opposite side of the street or run the risk of a ticket.

We’re all still brushing off the winter doldrums, of course, so the D.C. Department of Public Works will only be issuing warnings to cars that don’t move for the first 10 days of street-sweeping; come March 12, though, it’ll start giving out tickets.
