Eleven people were wounded in an early morning drive-by shooting near the intersection of North Capitol Street and New York Avenue today, D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier said.

The shooting occurred at 2:07 a.m. outside Tyler House, a public housing development, police said. Lanier said most of the injuries sustained by the victims are minor, and all victims are expected to survive. Police are searching for two vehicles, a dark blue BMW and a dark gray sedan. Lanier also said that the Metropolitan Police Department has security camera footage of the vehicles that it will release later today.

As a result of the investigation around the shooting, police have closed several roadways that are usually heavily trafficked during the weekday commute, including the unit block of M Street NW and the southbound ramp from New York Avenue.
