>> If you live in Takoma Park, Md., recycling is so yester-year. Composting is the new thing. The Post reports that the community just beyond the D.C. line has started doing curbside compost pickups. Currently, some 300 households are taking part in the six-month-long pilot program, which is one of the first of its kind in the region.
>> A House subcommittee will discuss the relocation of the FBI HQ tomorrow, writes the Examiner, and may well lift a requirement that the new campus be located within two miles of a Metro station. If that happens, more sites in the region could become viable options for the law enforcement agency; currently, local jurisdictions have been pitching locations close to Metro and the Beltway.
>> So much for the recession, huh? WTOP reports that real estate prices in the region are back to where they were before the housing market tanked. Median sales prices in and around D.C. stand at $355,000, and prices have increased by double digits for five consecutive months. Increases from 2012 to 2013 ranged from 6.5 percent in Prince George’s County to 35.8 percent in Falls Church; D.C. came in at 9.9 percent.
