>> Though he is still just in his early 20s, saxophonist Elijah Balbed is a veteran of the local scene. He was Chuck Brown’s saxophonist at the time of the go-go legend’s passing, recently completed the Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead program at the Kennedy Center, and will now serve as April’s Artist-in-Residence at Bohemian Caverns. His stint kicks off on Tuesday with 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. sets. $10 in advance/$15 at the door.

>> Highly respected bassist Brian Bromberg‘s resume reads like a who’s who of jazz and pop. He steps out to lead his own group on Tuesday at Blues Alley. The band features legendary trumpeter Randy Brecker. 8 and 10 p.m. sets. $35 + minimum/surcharge.
