Just as D.C. yesterday launched a traffic safety ad campaign and enforcement campaign, Metro is planning an ad campaign of its own to encourage riders not to run on platforms, block doors and walk in front of buses.

The new campaign will be presented to the Metro board tomorrow and is expected to run throughout the summer. It will feature posters at 114 Metro station entrances, as well as 1,118 posters in rail cars and 3,200 in buses. The campaign will also see evacuation posters in rail cars replaced with simpler, bolder alternatives that more clearly tell riders what to do in case of an emergency.
