>> Mark Whitfield was part of the crop of young lions that injected a fresh vibe into New York’s jazz scene during the late ’80s and early ’90s. Now an established veteran, he not only leads his own groups, but also has worked with Dizzy Gillespie, Wynton Marsalis and a host of other greats.
