>> In case you missed it, Interim Councilmember Anita Bonds (D-At Large) won yesterday’s Special Election, taking 32 percent of the vote over Elissa Silverman’s 27 percent. The budget autonomy referendum cruised to victory, with 83 percent of D.C. voters saying they want city officials to have more control over locally raised dollars.
>> Eric Justin Toth, the former D.C. school teacher wanted since 2008 on child pornography charges, was captured in Nicaragua last week after an American tourist recognized his face from the FBI’s Most-Wanted List, reports the Post. Toth was returned to D.C. yesterday and arraigned on charges that he possessed and produced child pornography; he left the area in 2008 after school officials found explicit images on his camera, and had been on the run since then.
>> The man accused of shooting an off-duty D.C. police officer in Prince George’s County earlier this week has turned himself in, writes WJLA. Antwan Rayvon James, 27, allegedly shot his stepfather, a D.C. cop, as he did yardwork in front of his Upper Marlboro home.
