This might be one of the lesser consequences she’ll deal with, but the University of Maryland student who savaged her sorority sisters over their alleged lack of socializing has resigned from the chapter. The student had been a member of the Delta Gamma sorority, but was deeply dissatisfied with her sisters’ weak participation in Greek Week festivities earlier this month.
In a brutal letter that leaked out and circulated widely on the Internet, the student lashed out at her now-former sisters for “FUCKING UP in terms of night time events and general social interactions with Sigma Nu.” Greek Week is an annual event in which sororities and fraternities—in this case, Sigma Nu—are paired up and expected to attend the same social gatherings and athletic events.
But the Delta Gamma sisters, in the writer’s words, weren’t sufficiently eager to interact with the Sigma Nu members, leading to this memorable threat: “I will fucking cunt punt the next person I hear about doing something like that, and I don’t give a fuck if you SOR me, I WILL FUCKING ASSAULT YOU.”
The student behind the letter tendered her resignation, the national Delta Gamma organization announced on its Facebook page:
Delta Gamma has accepted the resignation of one of its members whose email relating to a social event has been widely distributed and publicized through social media and traditional media channels.
The tone and content of the email was highly inappropriate and unacceptable by any standard.
No matter who released it to the public or how it reached such a mass audience, the email content should not reflect on any sorority woman in general or any fraternal organization at large.
The organization also said that it considers the matter “closed.”
The letter was later read in a Funny or Die video by the actor Michael Shannon.
