A biker was seriously injured after he was hit by an allegedly drunk woman driving on a Northern Virginia bike trail.

A car came up behind a 65-year-old Vienna man biking along the Washington and Old Dominion Trail Saturday night and hit him, according to news release from the Fairfax County Police Department. The Toyota was reportedly driving at a high rate of speed and did not slow down. The victim was thrown from his bike and suffered serious injuries.

The driver, identified as 28-year-old Mehak Chopra of McLean, reportedly drove five miles along the trail. Police received numerous calls from others who were almost struck, according to the release. Chopra was charged with driving while intoxicated and felony hit-and-run.

No motorized vehicles are allowed along the trail, which runs 45 miles from Alexandria to Purcellville, Va.
