Over at Young & Hungry, Jessica Sidman breaks some very dispiriting news for lovers of the first meal of the day. Taylor Gourmet is axing its breakfast hoagies, depriving customers of the ever-expanding sandwich chain possibly the best sandwiches it features on its menu.

Taylor owner Casey Patten tells Y&H that the egg, cheese, and meat-filled sandwiches just weren’t bringing in enough business during the breakfast hours between 8 and 11 a.m. The sandwich chain is also cutting its breakfast risotto balls, which, when dunked in the accompanying beer cheese sauce, are also pretty damn tasty.

Such a downer. Breakfast hoagies might return in a limited capacity, though. Patten says a breakfast “pop-up” is being discussed. Whatever that means.
