The plot thickens.

The man who drove his scooter through the Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro station at least twice last weekend also took his vehicle for a ride on a Metro train.

Elizabeth Lawrence sent a photo of the man atop his scooter on a Red Line train bound for Shady Grove Sunday around 11:15 a.m. “The oddest thing is that he stayed on the scooter the whole time in the train,” she reports.

A WMATA public information officer said yesterday the agency is reviewing the photo of the man’s ride through the station.

Who are you, mysterious scooter man? What are you trying to show us?

Update: Metro spokesman Dan Stessel provides DCist with some new information: “MTPD received a call regarding a disorderly subject with a moped at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Officers responded to Gallery Place within 5 minutes and checked the station with nothing found. If anyone sees someone bringing an unauthorized vehicle onto the system, they should contact Metro Transit Police at (202) 962-2121.

One other note about the configuration of Gallery Place: The elevators at Gallery Place go direction from street level to platform level. In other words, it would be possible for someone to bring this vehicle into the station without passing the station manager kiosk.”
