A pedestrian was struck by a dump truck at a busy intersection between Union Station and Chinatown’s Friendship Archway.

The accident occurred at 2:22 p.m. at Fourth Street and Massachusetts Avenue NW. There’s no word on the condition of the female pedestrian, a Metropolitan Police Department spokesman said, but the Major Crash Unit was called to the scene. MPD and D.C. Fire and EMS both responded.

The eastbound lane of Massachusetts Avenue is shut down between 5th and 3rd streets NW, while Fourth Street is closed between I and H streets NW, according to MPD.

A PoPville reader who lives near the scene reported that the pedestrian was pinned under the dump truck as of 3p.m.

This is the same intersection where a cyclist was hit and pinned by a charter bus earlier this month. The cyclist suffered non-life threatening injuries.
