Here’s the thing: Cyclists who use the Pennsylvania Avenue NW bike lanes have enough problems. Between taxicabs and other cars pulling U-turns in the face of scarce enforcement, pedicabs hogging the track, Segway tour groups, and pedestrian tourists idling in the intersections, using D.C.’s most scenic cycle track is more of a hassle than it should be.

And then there’s this. DCist reader Anna Lucas sends in the above photo depicting a fresh pile of horse manure sitting right in the middle of the cycle track on the 1300 block. “It’s just that kind of day,” she writes.

While Lucas says she did not see the offending equine, it appears that the forces that conspire against better bike infrastructure have a new, stinky ally.
