A public recreation center in Georgetown was robbed last week of a DVD player and, in a very Grinch-like move, games and toys.

The Georgetown Patch reports that the items stolen from Rose Park Recreation Center are used by children from the D.C. Department of Parks and Recreation Little Explorers Camp. The goal of the program is “to broaden their minds through play and structured activities,” which is a lot harder to do when people are stealing their games and toys.

A Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson said the unknown suspect entered through the center’s women’s restroom sometime between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning last week.

Request for comment from the Department of Parks and Recreation has not been returned.

Donations of games (with all their pieces) and (clean) toys were solicited by the Friends of Rose Park and accepted at the center today, according to Patch. Contact David Abrams of Friends of Rose Park at jake.chase@juno.com to find out if additional donations are still needed.
