>> Pianist Katy Roberts originally studied the indigenous music of Ghana before returning to the states to pursue her university studies in jazz. After spending over twenty years playing for other leaders, she has spent the new millennium as a bandleader. She will be at Twins Jazz on Friday and Saturday, playing 8 and 10 p.m. sets. >> Since moving to the area from his native Russia 12 years ago, Matvei Sigalov has risen to the ranks of the East Coast’s top improvising violinists. Accomplished in many styles of music, from Eastern European to bossa nova to traditional jazz, Sigalov will be leading his band on Friday and Saturday at Bohemian Caverns. 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. sets.
