Here’s your daily dose of faith restored in humanity: A man in a wheelchair fell onto the tracks at Metro Center on July 4 and was promptly rescued by four bystanders.
NBC4 has the surveillance video, which shows a man go off the platform onto the tracks around 8 a.m. Almost immediately, four men jumped onto the tracks to pull the man to safety. The first bystander to jump was Army Spc. Michael Mechaca, who told NBC4 he was just doing the “courteous thing.”
According to NBC4, Metro turned off the electrified third rail and notified an oncoming train about the incident. The man in the wheelchair, who is in his mid-20s, suffered a broken wrist.
