A funeral for the seven-year-old autistic boy who went missing from his Northeast home last week and was later found dead in a car will be held this morning.

As the neighborhood blog Frozen Tropics reported, Michael Kingsbury’s funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. today at Bethesda Baptist Church (1808 Capitol Avenue NE). Following his burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland, Md., a reception will be held at the Trinidad Recreation Center (1310 Childress Street NE).

Those interested in making a contribution to the family should contact Ward 5 liaison Marchim Williams in the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Engagement at (202) 340-7141 or marchim.williams@dc.gov.

Kingsbury was found dead in car just 40 feet from his home on July 8. The Metropolitan Police Department said a cause and time of death have yet to be determined, though the body had undergone obvious decomposition. Four police officers looked into the car where Kingsbury was found before a fifth, described as a veteran detective, found him.
