Drivers along Kensington Parkway in Montgomery County caught an odd message on one of the electronic roadside signs on their commute toward the District.
“SMOKE WEED EVRYDAY,” the sign blared in large, fluorescent letters. Considering that recreational marijuana use is still illegal in Maryland, while medicinal use only now being implemented, it is not surprising to hear that the sign was hacked.
WUSA reports that a driver spotted the sign near the intersection of Kensington Parkway and Beach Drive in Chevy Chase, Md. A Montgomery County Police spokeswoman says the sign belongs to county authorities, but was unsure to which department.
The sign was turned off about 9:20 a.m. and is being reprogrammed, WUSA reports.
