>> The Music Pilgrim Trio brings together gypsy jazz, klezmer, Russian, classical and Latin-American music styles. The group will be playing the Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club tonight with featured guest vocalist, Mary Alouette. $10 plus food and drink minimum, 7:30 p.m.

>> Malian guitarist Vieux Farka Touré recently founded an organization to benefit the war-torn northern region of his native country. He will be in attendance tonight at Liv, where a lineup of all-star locals organized by area artist, Elikeh, will hold a jam session. Proceeds will go toward the cause. Other participants include guitarist John Lee, griot artist Cheick Hamala Diabate and keyboardist Will Rast. $10, 9 p.m.

>> Ulah Bistro hosts pianist Wayne Wilentz and his quartet. The band specializes in Brazilian and Latin jazz, but will be playing other types of music as well. Instrumentalists and vocalists are welcome to sit in. Free, 11 p.m.

>> Allyn Johnson has long been considered one of D.C.’s finest pianists and a world class talent. Not only is he an accomplished musician, but he is also an experienced educator who directs the jazz program at UDC. Johnson will lead his latest project, Sonic Sanctuary, on Friday and Saturday at Bohemian Caverns. $18-22, 8:30 and 10:30 p.m.

Since then, he has been on an unwavering path to make up for the relatively late start.
